Day 01: Arrival at Chennai
Transfer to your hotel in the coastal town of Mahabalipuram, an hour away from Chennai. Laid out in the 7th century, the town is a World Heritage Site that boasts some of the most sublime rock-cut art in India.
Day 02: Mahabalipuram
Full day at leisure. You can walk the beaches or visit the town, where descendants of the craftsmen who carved the temples and sculptures still practice the craft of their forefathers.
Day- 03: Mahabalipuram – Chennai – Trichy
Transfer to Chennai Railway station to board the Vaigai Express to Trichy.
Day 04: Trichy – Tanjore (65 km)
Before driving out to Tanjore visit the Srirangam temple and Rockfort, Trichy’s most famous landmark. After lunch visit the monolithic Brihadeshwara temple in Tanjore which is also known as the “Bull Temple”.
Day 05: Tanjore – Karaikudy (90 km)
Karaikudy, where you will be staying at a heritage mansion, is home to some or South India’s wealthiest merchant families and, though many villages are now semi-deserted, the region provides a wonderful glimpse of the old days.
Day 06: Karaikudy – Dindigul
Drive to Dindigul for a quiet, relaxed time at a traditional home on the banks of the scenic Kamaraj Lake at the foot of the Western Ghats.
Day 07: Dindigul – Madurai (90 km)
Driving to Madurai in the morning, explore this ancient temple town planned in the-shape of a flowering lotus with the towering Meenakshi temple complex at its heart, before attending the evening puja at the temple.
Day 08: Madurai – Kanyakumari (255 km)
Journey to the southernmost premonitory of India. Kanyakumari is the confluence of the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal -clearly visible in the different colours of the waters as they mingle.
Day 09: Kanyakumari – Thiruvananthapuram
En route Thiruvananthapuram, visit the meticulously crafted beauty of the Padmanabhapuram Palace. In the afternoon visit Napier Museum, Thiruvananthapuram Zoo and Padmanabhaswamy temple.
Day 10: Departure from Thiruvananthapuram
Transfer to Thiruvananthapuram airport for your connecting flight onward.
